Human-like figure in white coverall emerged and communicated through gestures

On May 18, 1946, Gösta Carlsson, a Swedish aircraft engineer and entrepreneur, reported encountering a disc-shaped craft in a forest clearing near Ängelholm in southern Sweden. According to his account, Carlsson observed a luminous, metallic disc approximately 16 meters in diameter resting in the clearing. A figure in a white coverall emerged from the craft and made contact with Carlsson, communicating through gestures before returning to the craft, which then departed vertically at high speed. Carlsson described the craft as having a transparent dome on top and a ring of circular porthole-like openings around its midsection. The being he encountered was described as of roughly human appearance but with slightly unusual proportions. The encounter allegedly lasted approximately 30 minutes, and Carlsson noted a residual smell of ozone and scorched vegetation in the clearing afterward. The encounter occurred during the same year as the Swedish Ghost Rockets phenomenon, when hundreds of anomalous missile-like objects were observed over Scandinavia, generating official Swedish military investigation. This temporal and geographic coincidence has been noted by researchers as potentially significant. Carlsson maintained his account for decades. In 1971, he erected a metal replica of the craft he described at the location of the alleged encounter in a forest outside Ängelholm. The monument — a stylized flying saucer on a pedestal — became something of a local landmark and tourist attraction, eventually placed under municipal protection. Carlsson died in 2021 at the age of 90, still maintaining the veracity of his 1946 encounter.
